Gary Porter,  CPA heads up the firm's community association practice.  He is a nationally recognized expert as the creator and coauthor of the books used as technical guidance by virtually every CPA firm that works within the industry.  He is also coauthor of the American Institute of CPAs course “Providing Services to Common Interest Realty Associations.” 

Mr. Porter is the author of more than 250 technical articles, and has been a frequent speaker at industry events, as well as being a featured speaker on homeowners association industry technical topics for 32 state CPA society organizations.  He has provided consulting services to more than 500 CPA firms that have requested assistance on specialized issues relating to homeowners associations.

Mr.  Porter was a founding member in 1979 of the Channel islands Chapter of the Community Associations Institute (CAI).  He was the editor of CAI's financial newsletter for 15 years, has served on a number of committees, the national board of trustees, and as CAI national president in 1998-99.  Mr. Porter is the author of CAI's public policy on taxation, and served as the industry’s representative to the national office of the Internal Revenue Service.  CAI is the industry trade organization of the whole ownership homeowners associations industry; a nonprofit organization which has nearly 40,000 members.  

Gary has also been involved in the timeshare industry since 1989, and has been a member of the American resort Development Association (ARDA) and other resort industry organizations.  He has been a speaker at industry events on accounting, tax, and reserve study topics.  He has worked with timeshare and other fractional ownership resorts,  including private residence clubs and condo hotel associations.
